Report: Big Changes Could Be Coming in Buffalo

A 1-3 start to the season is not what the Buffalo Sabres had in mind for 2024-25. This was supposed to be the year they finally made the big leap and took a serious shot at ending their 13-year playoff absence.

And now, according to insiders David Pagnotta, Dennis Bernstein and David Paton on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, if they don't turn things around soon, general manager Kevyn Adams' job could be in jeopardy. Pagnotta explained on The Fourth Period:
If things fall off the rails in Buffalo this month, there is some chatter making the rounds of a GM change. My understanding is that the Sabres have someone in mind for the position.

But all of this doesn't mean that Adams will be out in the cold completely, stresses Pagnotta.

If a new GM is brought in, Adams is expect to move up to a higher managerial title.

After an 0-3 start, Buffalo surprised with a huge 5-2 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champs, the Florida Panthers, on Saturday. But we'll certainly keep an eye on a potential change at the top here.

The Sabres have their young core locked up for the long-term in Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power and Matthias Samuelsson on the blue line, and Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens up front. But they haven't found the right supporting cast just yet.
