Sharks Make Big Decision With Yaroslav Askarov

The San Jose Sharks have made a big roster move, as they have assigned top goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov to the San Jose Barracuda.

With this roster move, the Sharks will enter the 2024-25 season with Mackenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek as their goalie tandem. As for Askarov, he will start the campaign with the Barracuda and look to impress. If he does, it would not be shocking in the slightest if he was called up to the Sharks' roster early on into the season.

Askarov has been sidelined with a lower-body injury this training camp, so it is understandable that the Sharks are having him start the year with the Barracuda. He will now look to shake the rust off down in the AHL and get his campaign off to a hot start.

Askarov appeared in 44 games this past season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, where he had a 30-13-1 record, a .911 save percentage (SV%), and a 2.39 goals-against average (GAA). He also made two appearances for the Nashville Predators in 2023-24, where he had a 1-0-0 record, a .943 SV%, and a 1.47 GAA.
