Sharks Rumors: Cody Ceci Becoming Prime Trade Candidate

The San Jose Sharks are currently in the middle of a major rebuild, and they have traded away multiple players in recent years because of it. When noting that they have started the season with a 0-7-2 record, it seems very likely that we will see the Pacific Division club be sellers again this season.

Due to this, one player on their roster who is standing out as a prime trade candidate this season is veteran defenseman Cody Ceci.

Ceci, 30, was acquired by the Sharks this past offseason from the Edmonton Oilers. However, when noting that the right-shot defenseman is in the final season of his current deal and is a pending unrestricted free agent, he is a notable rental candidate as we get closer to the trade deadline.

Ceci should generate interest from playoff teams looking for help on the right side of their defense. He has experience playing top-four minutes and kills penalties, so he could be a decent addition for a contender. This is especially so when noting that he has a good amount of playoff experience.

Ceci has appeared in nine games this season with the Sharks, where he has one assist, six penalty minutes, 12 hits, and a minus-6 rating.
