St. Louis Blues Sign Jake Neighbours To Multi-Year Extension

The St. Louis Blues have signed Jake Neighbours to a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension. Starting next season, he will carry a $3.75 million cap hit.

Neighbours, 22, is coming off a career season with the Blues. In 77 games with the Central Division club this past season, he set new career highs with 27 goals, 11 assists, and 38 points. It was a big step in the right direction for the 6-foot forward, and he has now landed this sweet contract extension because of it.

Neighbours is off to a solid start with the Blues this season as well. In six games thus far, he has two goals to go along with an assist. Now, he will look to build off it after earning a raise from the Blues from here.

The Blues selected Neighbours with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In 135 games over four seasons with the Blues, he has 36 goals to go along with 53 points and a minus-39 rating.

It will now be fascinating to see how much of a step forward he takes after earning this nice new contract. There is no question that he has the tools to become a very important part of the Blues' roster and hit a new level offensively. We will need to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
