3 Teams Linked To Flyers' Morgan Frost
Morgan Frost needs a change in scenery from the Philadelphia Flyers and it is about time the team moves on from him. Both sides gave it a good run, but he doesn't necessarily gel the best with head coach John Tortorella and his game has been up and down this season.
The Flyers have a lot of other young talent, so it doesn't hurt to move on from Frost this season, and well ahead of the trade deadline. The former first round draft pick and current second line center for Philadelphia has three goals and nine points in 19 games this season, but has also been a healthy scratch.
The 25-year-old is in the second and final year of a two-year, $2.1 million AAV deal and is a RFA when it's complete. Teams have been linked to frost as it makes sense for the rebuilding team to change things up.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Chicago Blackhawks have all been linked to Frost.
Anaheim seems to still be set on moving on from Trevor Zegras, so that would leave a hole down the middle that Frost could fill. Zegras would join his good friend Jamie Drysdale in Philly and the two teams are no strangers to making sizeable trades, but I'm not sure how Zegras and Tortorella will mesh.
Toronto is very injury-depleted and bringing in a player like Frost who can make an impact down the middle would really help the third line. He also has the capabilities of moving up the lineup if there's more time missed with Auston Matthews down the line. Frost is cheap and could be a part of the Maple Leafs moving forward too as the team requires cheap help.
The Blackhawks have really struggled down the middle with winning draws and with consistency. Since Tyler Johnson left in the offseason and Andreas Athanasiou was placed on waivers, the center options Chicago haven't succeeded. Frost is a good age that he can fit in with that young core and fit on the second or third line.
It seems almost inevitable that Frost is going to be traded. There aren't many players who could use a change of scenery more and the talent and breakout potential is still very much there.
