A scary scene unfolded in St. Louis Tuesday night, as Dylan Holloway blocked a shot with his throat/neck area in the Blues' game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and was removed from the game on a stretcher.

Holloway actually surprisingly played on for 20 or 30 seconds until the end of his shift, but was in obvious discomfort on the bench, where a stretcher was brought in to take him to hospital.
According to the latest reports, however, he has escaped serious injury, and doctors have indicated that he is going to be OK. Insider Frank Seravalli says Holloway's airway was open and unobstructed and there was no swelling around his neck.
This is about as scary as it gets... He goes from sitting upright to being stretchered off the bench. Thankfully, (he) avoided the worst. His parents were all in town and went with him to the hospital. The working theory overnight was that this was a potential collarbone injury that just stunned his system.
Holloway even came to the rink today to say he’s OK, and show off the welt that the puck left.

Dylan Holloway is doing well, and said he feels normal. He said the puck hit him in the Vagus nerve and he felt lightheaded on the bench, and didn’t remember much until he was loaded on the stretcher. Holloway said he hopes to play tomorrow.

He hopes to play tomorrow.
Holloway came to St. Louis this past offseason on the much-publicized dual offer sheets that the Blues made to both him and his former Edmonton Oilers teammate Philip Broberg. Ironically, Broberg was also injured earlier this week.
Holloway was off to a nice start with his new club, with four goals and six points in 13 games, playing a career-high 14:57 per night, while holding down a plus/minus rating of +2.
Hopefully we'll see him back on the ice soon after this alarming scene.
