Vegas Golden Knights Sign Brett Howden To Big Extension

Brett Howden is off to a rousing start to the season for the Vegas Golden Knights, and the team has apparently seen enough to lock in the 26-year-old to a five-year extension, worth $2.5 million annually.

Howden's career high in goals entering this season was 8. He already has 8 this year in 20 games. He has a healthy shooting percentage of 22.2% which might come down, but he's earned himself extra playing time, as he's averaging a career-high 15:07 of ice time per night, two minutes above his previous high in his last three seasons with Vegas.

His 8 goals so far ties him for second on the team with Ivan Barbashev.

Howden has already shown his propensity to come up big in the playoffs, registeringg 10 points in 22 games in the Knights' Stanley Cup championship run in 2023.

Howden, a former first-round pick (27th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by Tampa Bay) becomes the third player Vegas has extended in a busy past four weeks, joining Shea Theodore (seven years, $51.975 million) and Brayden McNabb (three years, $10.95 million).
