Bruins Place Max Jones On Waivers
The Boston Bruins haven't been their normal dominant self this season and with the recent signing of Tyler Johnson, Max Jones has been placed on waivers.
Jones is in year one of a two-year, $1 million AAV contract and he only played in four of the team's 13 games, recording no points and he is a -4. Jones likely wasn't going to see a lot of time in the lineup this season as the Bruins' fourth line is arguably the second best line on the team so far.
The 26-year-old played his entire career up until this season on the Anaheim Ducks that were rebuilding and had space to give him opportunity. He joined a team that is trying to win and didn't make his mark early enough.
Jones' career high in goals (9) and points (19) came two seasons ago in 2022-23, so he is at most a bottom-6 player. This 6'3 heavyweight will deliver a lot of hits, but there's not a lot more that he has really contributed. Tyler Johnson scored 17 goals and 31 points last season and is a former Stanley Cup champion, so he was the obvious choice on the roster once a contract was settled.
This isn't likely the last time Jones is on the Bruins' roster this season or even gets in a game. Injuries will come and as Boston still has him under contract for another year, it would be beneficial to get him going and contributing this season. The Bruins need it.
