Bruins Reportedly Want To Make 2 Big Additions This Season

The Boston Bruins have had much better starts in recent years than what is being put together this season. That being said, they have a good core and a talented group that is currently holding down the third spot in the Atlantic Division.

The Bruins have aspirations to win the Stanley Cup, especially with a couple of the offseason additions and the top-end talent on the team. With that, Jimmy Murphy reported that the Bruins want to add a top-6 winger and top-6 center before the trade deadline.

The top-6 of the Bruins currently has Morgan Geekie, Pavel Zacha, and David Pastrnak on the top line and Brad Marchand, Elias Lindholm, and Justin Brazeau on the second line. There are some clear issues with this and compared to recent years, this is a very thin group that is held together by a select few.

Brazeau is a bottom-6 player and Geekie, who has potential, only has one goal and three points. The third line, which includes Charlie Coyle and Trent Frederic, have struggled immensely as well, so there really aren't many other internal options.

We continue to see the Bruins add what they can each season for another run and it hasn't worked out great all the time. With the team they have, management has to keep giving the group a better chance to win. While a trade or two may come closer to the trade deadline, events of the season could force something to happen sooner than that as well.
