Bruins Trade Rumors: Pending UFA Trent Frederic to have "Several" Trade Suitors

Boston Bruins' bottom-six forward Trent Frederic has had a couple of breakout seasons as a secondary scorer in addition to all the other things he does for the team. He had 35 goals over the past two years, while also handing out 204 hits last season. But he will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, as his two-year, $2.3 million AAV contract comes to an end.

On the NHL Network on Tuesday, insider Kevin Weekes revealed that several of his sources tell him that Frederic will be a wanted man at the trade deadline if the Bruins don't feel they can re-sign him.

Seems like that combination of grit, the character, the skill, he's got some hands—that's the type of player teams are looking for especially down the stretch and in the postseason. So he's drawing a lot of interest... I know that a lot of eyes are on him around the league.

Weekes' fellow host on the First Shift podcast, EJ Hradek, echoed those sentiments. "This is the kind of player at the back end of the lineup that can make a difference and put you over the top. I'd be interested to see if the Bruins would be willing to move him, because he plays an important role on their team."

Frederic, 26, was a first-round pick of the Bruins (29th overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft, and has spent his entire seven-year career in Boston. Could that run be coming to an end?
