Brutal News for Ducks’ Robby Fabbri
Just a couple of days ago, Anaheim Ducks forward Robby Fabbri was being looked at as a prime trade candidate, as a pending UFA after the season. That will now have to be put on hold for a while, as he will be out for at least six weeks after meniscus surgery.
And there’s our Robby Fabbri answer. Meniscus surgery, six weeks. So, end of December/early January return date.

I imagine Harkins stays up for a bit, and/or Colangelo gets a look. Especially since the Ducks don’t have any extra forwards right now.@SportingTrib | #FlyTogether https://t.co/USiaJ5ynTr
The arthroscopic procedure will keep him out until at least the end of the calendar year or possibly January.
Fabbri is no stranger to knee surgery, as this will be the fifth of his career. Torn ACLs have usually been the culprit.
The 18-goal scorer from last season was off to a slow start in his first year with Anaheim, with just two markers in 14 games, while playing 16:33 per night, his highest TOI in three seasons. He'd spent the last four campaigns with the Detroit Red Wings.
Sam Colangelo, who was just named the Player of the Month with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL after popping 8 goals in 13 games, is a likely beneficiary (if Ducks fans have their way), though for now, Jansen Harkins was the forward call-up this week.
