Buffalo Sabres Blow Off Teams Asking For 2 Key Players

The Buffalo Sabres have been trying anything to right the ship, and something has finally clicked this week as they've won two straight games, by a total goals of 11-2, including a destruction of Igor Shesterkin and the NY Rangers Thursday night.

However, the team had made it clear the previous two weeks that they were looking for help on the trade market. But GM Kevyn Adams was not giving in to panic.

Per hockey insider Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Adams was not biting on teams trying to prey on him and nab key players like Bowen Byram and the struggling Dylan Cozens.

Kevyn Adams is out there (talking to other clubs) saying 'I want to help my team', and people are saying, 'Oh, you want to trade me Bowen Byram? I can help you.' (Adams) is like, 'C'mon, I'm trying to make my team better.'

Another guy he got asked about what Dylan Cozens. I heard there were a few teams. But Adams is like, 'We're not interested in doing that. How does that make me better?'

Cozens, two years removed from a 31-goal breakout season, has just two goals and five points in the current campaign, but he is a talented young player, a No. 7 overall pick, and he's in just the second season of a seven-year contract.

Byram, the defenseman who they obtained in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche last season, is a 4th overall pick, and is off to a great start, with 9 points in 14 games and a plus/minus rating of +6.

Needless to say, as Friedman points out, "if you're going to show (Adams) a trade that makes him better, then he'll think about something."

But trying to fleece him is not going to work.

And perhaps these two wins this week have the Sabres finally moving in the right direction.
