Canadiens Coach Martin St. Louis Rips Team For Playing Like Puke

We've heard coaches rip their teams in postgame comments in the past... 'Lack of effort'... 'We didn't show up'... 'Made too many mistakes' are the usual types of phrases used. But Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis came up with a creative new way to trash his team's effort Thursday night, referring to it, essentially, as vomit.

"Our start showed we were patient and disciplined in that (risk/reward) department," said St. Louis. "We're in a good spot going into the third and you just throw up all over yourself."

The Canadiens went into the 3rd period looking much improved from their 8-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken in their previous game, taking a 3-3 tie into the final session against Washington. But the Capitals scored three unanswered goals to take a 6-3 victory, leaving the Habs' head coach comparing his team to puke.

The goaltending has certainly come into question, as both Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau have struggled mightily this season. The former was pulled in his last game after giving up five goals on 10 shots, and has a 3.67 goals against average and an .891 save percentage in seven starts, despite a season-opening shutout.

Primeau was the victim Thursday night, surrendering six goals on 34 shots for an .824 Sv%, and now has a woeful 4.38 GAA and .861 Sv% on the season.

The Canadiens are tied for last in the Atlantic Division at 4-6-1 with the worst goal differential in the Eastern Conference, at minus-15.

After "throwing up" another one Thursday night, as the coach put it, they'll need to digest how things are going and turn it around fast.
