Canadiens Rumors: Jake Evans Generating Interest From Multiple Teams
According to Marco D'Amico of Responsible Gambler, sources informed him that Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans is generating trade interest from "at least three teams."
Evans, 28, is in the final season of his current contract and carries a $1.7 million cap hit. At this juncture of the season, the Canadiens currently sport a 4-6-1 record and are tied with the Boston Bruins at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. If they continue to struggle and find themselves out of a playoff spot this year, Evans could be a valuable trade chip for the Original Six club.
Evans is off to a decent start with the Canadiens, as he has two goals and five points in 11 games thus far. He has also been providing some physicality along with his solid depth offensive production, as he has 19 hits on the year thus far.
It is not too surprising to hear that clubs are looking to add Evans. He is a solid bottom-six forward who chips in offensively, kills penalties, and provides a bit of grit. Because of this, he could be a strong addition for a team looking to improve down the middle. We will need to wait and see if the Habs end up trading him from here.
