Canucks Get Bad News on Leading Scorer Brock Boeser

After being felled by a brutal illegal hit to the head, it's now been determined that the Vancouver Canucks' leading scorer Brock Boeser will be out indefinitely with what's being called an "upper body injury" but is clearly concussion-related.

Boeser was blindsided by an illegal shoulder to the head area on Thursday night by the LA Kings' Tanner Jeannot. He has now been suspended by the NHL for the reckless hit.

“I talked to him briefly,” Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said of Boeser. “Doesn't feel great, but I wouldn't say it's horrible, so I think he's indefinite right now. These things can change [in] a week or 24 hours. I don't know.

“It’s a dangerous play, and hopefully Brock is going to be OK,” Tocchet added.

The Vancouver Province reported that Boeser was suffering from concussion symptoms.

Boeser has a team-leading six goals along with 11 points in 12 games this season after coming off a career year in 2023-24, when he racked up 40 goals and 73 points, and earned his second All-Star selection.

In 491 NHL games across nine seasons, he has recorded 395 points on 185 goals and 210 assists. He was a first round selection by the Canucks (23rd overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.
