Ducks Rumors: Trade coming involving Trevor Zegras?

The Anaheim Ducks may be rebuilding, however GM Pat Verbeek proved last offseason he prefers to re-tool on the fly, offering free-agent contracts to both Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault. Verbeek isn't afraid to spend money, and somewhat recently, gave Trevor Zegras a contract extension worth $5.75 million AAV through the 2025-26 season.

Turns out Verbeek could wind up looking for a trade destination for Zegras, as the offensively-focused forward has not been able to find or sustain any consistent production. Zegras has just two goals one goal and three points in his first 12 games this season.

Zegras was hurt at different points last year, and managed just 15 points in 31 games, and this season was supposed to be a bounce-back year for the 23-year-old, but so far it's been anything but.

The Ducks sit with a 4-6-2 record to start this season, they are in second last in the Western Conference, and considering they are once again on their way to not reaching management's expectations this season, Zegras is a prime trade candidate out of California.

Zegras has been linked to the Washington Capitals, Montreal Canadiens and Seattle Kraken in the past, so we'll have to wait and see where the trade talks could take him this season. If he continues to struggle, Verbeek will have no choice but to find him a change of scenery.
