Maple Leafs Reveal Troubling Update on Calle Jarnkrok

He has yet to play this season, and it'll be quite a bit longer until Calle Jarnkrok dons the Blue & White for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the current campaign.

The team has revealed that Jarnkrok has undergone groin and  sports hernia surgery and is now "month-to-month."

"He's got to get it fixed," head coach Craig Berube said, per Nick Barden in The Hockey News. "But, you know, it's too bad. Because he's a player that we liked and can help us."

The 33-year-old began the season on LTIR after dealing with the issues ever since training camp. He'd been skating recently, but had a "setback" last week, per GM Brad Treliving. It's hoped that the Swedish forward can still be a factor late in the season.

Jarnkrok is currently in the middle of a four-year, $2.1 million AAV contract and last season posted 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 52 games with an impressive plus/minus rating of +16, in his 15:16 average time on ice per night.

In his two seasons with the Leafs, he has 60 points in 125 games, along with a +25 rating.

He's an 11-year veteran, who's also suited up for the Nashville Predators, Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken. Overall, he has 136 goals and 165 assists for 301 points in 699 career NHL games.
