Nemec, 20, has appeared in nine games this season with the Devils, where he has one assist, one hit, and a minus-2 rating. However, he notably was scratched for each of the Devils' last six games. Thus, this demotion to the AHL will be a good way for him to get more consistent minutes.
Nemec was selected by the Devils as the second-overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1 defenseman is viewed as having a very bright future, but for now, he will work on his game at the AHL level with the Comets.
Nemec will now have the opportunity to have a more significant role with the Comets, and this could help the youngster gain more of his confidence back.
Nemec played in 60 games this past season with the Devils, where he had three goals, 16 assists, 19 points, and a minus-7 rating.
