NHL Rumors: 2 Flames Expected to Generate Trade Interest

In a recent video for The Fourth Period, NHL insider David Pagnotta reported that Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson and forward Andrei Kuzmenko are expected to generate trade interest once we get closer to the trade deadline.

Andersson, 28, has been in the rumor mill before and could be a big-time addition for a playoff club looking to add to the right side of their defense. This is because the 2015 second-round pick can handle playing top-pairing minutes and works on both the power play and the penalty kill.

Andersson also carries great value because he would be more than a rental for any potential suitors. This is because he is under contract until the completion of the 2025-26 season, carrying a very reasonable $4.55 million cap hit.

Kuzmenko, on the other hand, is in the final season of his contract and could be a nice rental for a playoff club looking for more offense. The 28-year-old has had a bit of a slow start to the season, as he has one goal and nine points in 17 games. However, he is capable of producing well when he is on his A-game, so teams should be calling.

It will be very interesting to see what the Flames end up doing with Andersson and Kuzmenko later this season from here.
