NHL Rumors: 3 Penguins Who Could Be Traded Next
The Pittsburgh Penguins made a notable move on Tuesday (Nov. 12), trading forward Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
With the Penguins struggling so mightily early on this season, it seems possible that we could see more of their players traded in the near future. Because of this, let's discuss three Penguins who could be traded next.
Marcus Pettersson
Pettersson is a clear player to watch in the rumor mill this season. The 28-year-old defenseman is in the final season of his contract and would be a very valuable trade chip for the Pens. If the left-shot defenseman and Penguins don't agree upon an extension soon, don't be surprised if he gets shopped.
Matt Grzelcyk
Grzelcyk is another Penguins defenseman who could find himself on the move this season. He is only signed for the season and could become a popular trade chip for the Penguins if they do not turn things around. In 17 games this season, the 5-foot-10 defenseman has zero goals, seven assists, and a minus-8 rating.
Michael Bunting
After posting six goals and 19 points in 21 games following his trade to the Penguins last season, Bunting has struggled big time so far this season. In 16 games, he has just two goals and an assist. If these struggles continue, the Penguins could look to move him. There also should be some interest in Bunting, as he contributes well offensively and plays a very heavy game when playing at his best.
