NHL Rumors: 4 Canadiens Expected to Generate Trade Interest
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, David Savard, Jake Evans, Joel Armia, and Christian Dvorak are all expected to generate trade interest during this season.
Savard, 34, is currently in the final season of his contract. The right-shot defenseman generated a lot of interest this past season, but the Canadiens elected to hold onto him. However, now that he is in the final season of his contract, they could be more willing to move him for the right price.
Evans is another Canadien who is in the final season of his contract. He has been picking up some steam in the rumor mill as of late, and it makes a lot of sense. He would be a good bottom-six forward for playoff clubs looking for help down the middle.
Armia could also be a popular player around the trade deadline. This is because he can provide decent offense in a bottom-six role, as demonstrated by his 17 goals in 66 games last season. In addition, if the Canadiens are willing to retain some of his salary, that will increase his value.
As for Dvorak, he is also in the final season of his contract and has been creating buzz in the rumor mill. He is an effective middle-six forward when playing at his best, so he could be a popular target once the deadline gets closer.
