NHL Trade Rumors: Bruins Interested In Trevor Zegras?

The Boston Bruins are reportedly interested in acquiring Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras, as suggested by Jimmy Murphy of RG.org

Facing early-season struggles and searching for offensive depth, Bruins GM Don Sweeney has been scouting potential top-six forwards, with Zegras emerging as a notable target.

An NHL executive told Murphy, “Sweeney is looking for help, make no mistake about it,” specifically seeking a scoring winger or center to bolster the team’s top-six and add a much-needed spark to their lineup.

Zegras, despite recording just three points in 15 games this season, has name recognition and the offensive potential that could appeal to Boston’s ambitions.

Zegras’ fit in Anaheim’s system under new head coach Greg Cronin has reportedly been challenging, as the young forward adapts to a more aggressive, two-way style that contrasts with his skill-focused approach.

Murphy noted that Sweeney’s interest in Zegras is likely influenced by the forward’s familiarity with Boston, where he starred at Boston University before joining the NHL.

With the Ducks recently trading defenseman Jamie Drysdale, speculation has increased that Anaheim may be open to moving Zegras as part of a broader roster overhaul.

This potential move also highlights the Bruins’ urgency, as recent losses and questions around their offensive depth put pressure on head coach Jim Montgomery.

Should Sweeney find a way to bring Zegras to Boston, it could be the bold shake-up the Bruins need to reinvigorate their lineup.

As Murphy summarized, “Sweeney has his finger on the panic button,” and whether through a trade for Zegras or other changes, the Bruins appear poised to address their offensive concerns.
