NHL Trade Rumors: Bruins Reveal Whether They Are Shopping Trent Frederic

The Boston Bruins are not actively shopping forward Trent Frederic, despite increased interest from other NHL teams, according to James Murphy of RG.org

Frederic, a pending unrestricted free agent, has attracted attention for his blend of size, toughness, and skill, with ESPN’s Kevin Weekes recently labeling him a “hot commodity.”

A Bruins source clarified that while General Manager Don Sweeney may take calls as part of his role, the team is not looking to move the 26-year-old forward.

“He’s not being shopped,” an NHL executive told RG.org. “Would I be surprised that teams are interested in Frederic? Not at all. But as far as I know, the Bruins have not been shopping him at all.”

Frederic has been a valuable asset to Boston since being drafted 29th overall in 2016, recording a career-high 18 goals and 22 assists last season.

While his start this season has been quieter, with only three points in 15 games, the Bruins remain focused on their current roster as they aim to recover from their slower 7-7-2 start.

If the Bruins ultimately decide to entertain offers closer to the March 7 trade deadline, Frederic’s hometown team, the St. Louis Blues, may emerge as a top suitor.

The Blues reportedly value local players and are keen to bring in talent like Frederic.

However, unless Boston’s playoff hopes diminish significantly, the Bruins are likely to hold on to him and reevaluate his future in the offseason.
