NHL Trade Rumors: Insider Names 4 Flyers Forwards We Should "Expect to See on the Move"
The Philadelphia Flyers are definitely one of the teams to keep an eye on as we move into trade season, and a large chunk of their forward corps has come into focus.
According to insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, there are potentially four Flyers up front who could be swapping uniforms this season.
There's a bunch of guys that I think are up for a change of scenery from the Flyers: Morgan Frost, Bobby Brink, Joel Farabee, (and) to a lesser extent, Tyson Foerster. They are all guys that you could see on the move at some point in time.
Morgan Frost
An impending UFA, Frost just hasn't been able to really take hold as a solid contributor for the Flyers since he was a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. He's struggled continually since his promising 2022-23 season in which he posted 19 goals and 46 points. This year, his 2 goals in 18 games screams out for a fresh start elsewhere.
Bobby Brink
Another name that's been on the trade block for a while, the former second-rounder is just 23 and is in the first season of a two-year, $1.5 million cap hit. He's been up and down between Philly and Lehigh Valley in the AHL over the past couple of seasons. Last year, he produced 11 goals in 57 games with the Flyers, but this year he's seen his time on ice dip by over a minute to just 12:27 per night, and he has just three goals in 19 contests.
Joel Farabee
The most prominent name on this list, Farabee carries a much higher price tag, with another three years after this one at a $5 million cap hit. He was their 3rd leading scorer last season with 22 goals and 50 points, but is really struggling at this point with just three goals and eight points in 22 games. Farabee averaged over 17 minutes TOI for a couple of seasons, before dropping to 16:11 last year, and sinking even farther down the depth chart this campaign, at only 14:58 per game. He needs something to snap him out of his doldrums. A change would do him good.
Tyson Foerster
Another youngster, just 22 and in his second full season, it might be too early to give up on him after a 20-goal rookie season last year, but he's also felt the wrath of head coach John Tortorella, seeing his time on ice drop by two minutes per game this season as he's disappointed with just four goals in 21 games. Torts has called him "a concern" and has tried him all over the lineup (and even in the press box), but nothing has worked. Perhaps a new uniform might?
Seravalli also indicates that the Ottawa Senators have been in discussions with Philly. Whether any of the aforementioned players or others are involved remains to be seen.
