NHL Trade Rumors: Nick Robertson Linked to Central Division Team
Coach Craig Berube has shuffled the lineup, even scratching Robertson against the Winnipeg Jets to maintain a winning combination.
Despite this, Robertson remains determined, saying, “I’m not taking anything personal. It’s just part of the deal and it’s my job to work hard.”
This limited role in Toronto, combined with Robertson’s trade request earlier in the year, has fueled speculation about his future, especially with him requiring waivers to be sent to the AHL—a move the Leafs may be hesitant to risk.
Nick Robertson has done very well this season despite never playing above the 3rd line.

What could it hurt to give him an extended look on a second line with some first unit PP time?
These guys don't take steps if you don't give them opportunities. He's earned it too.
The Colorado Avalanche, battling a depleted forward lineup, are emerging as a potential landing spot for Robertson.
Aarif Deens of Colorado Hockey Now and insider Elliotte Friedman both highlighted the Avs' search for offensive depth amidst injuries to key players like Gabriel Landeskog, Ross Colton, and Artturi Lehkonen.
According to Friedman, Colorado is actively “looking for forwards” as they try to weather a “miserable stretch” with five of their top nine forwards out.
Deens suggests Robertson’s offensive potential, particularly his quick release and scoring instincts, could be maximized alongside the right linemates in Colorado—a fresh start that might allow him to flourish.

With his affordable $875,000 contract and restricted free agent status at the season’s end, Robertson is a practical fit for the Avalanche, who are managing tight cap space.
Deens believes Colorado could offer the top-six role Robertson hasn’t secured in Toronto, allowing him to take advantage of more ice time and meaningful minutes.
While his defensive game remains a work in progress, Robertson’s scoring potential makes him a worthwhile target for Colorado GM Chris MacFarland as the Avs look to address their pressing forward needs.
