Nic Deslauriers Is Yet Another Trade Candidate for Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are one of the teams to watch as trade talks heat up around the league in the coming weeks and months. There seem to be three main candidates that rival teams are keeping an eye on.

And while we've heard plenty about Scott Laughton as a trade possibility for the past couple of seasons, as well as Rasmus Ristolainen, who has re-emerged on the rumor mill plenty of late, we can also add the name Nic Deslauriers.

Insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period listed the physical forward Deslauriers as a candidate, as the Flyers are clearly still in the phase of building their team to where they need it to be.

The 12-year veteran still has another season after this one remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $1.75 million. He's a fourth-line enforcer who will bang some bodies around, in more ways than one. He certainly doesn't hesitate to drop the gloves if he sees an injustice happening against one of his teammates, and he delivered 306 hits two seasons ago in 80 games (3rd in the NHL), and another 188 hits in 60 games last year.

The 6'1", 220-pounder is 33, and this season has not received much run for head coach John Tortorella, playing in just 7 games, watching the rest from the press box.

He won't light up the scoresheet (only 7 goals and 16 points in two full seasons in Philly), but he would be a fearsome presence for contending teams to take with them down the stretch and into the playoffs.
