Penguins Rumors: Marcus Pettersson Linked to New Team
The Pittsburgh Penguins are ready to make some trades, and defenseman Marcus Pettersson is one of their top trade chips. The left-shot defenseman is in the final season of his contract and could land the Penguins a sweet return if he is shopped.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, one specific team who could make a serious push for Pettersson this season is the Winnipeg Jets.
Here is what Pagnotta said on the matter:
Marcus Pettersson is probably going to be on a lot of teams radars out of Pittsburgh. I’ve got to imagine that Chevy and the crew in Winnipeg are going to look at him, but man, if they add somebody else to that top four D-core, they’re going to be that much more potent.
The Jets currently have an outstanding 15-2-0 record and are at the top of the NHL standings. However, while this is the case, they still could look to upgrade their blueline in preparation for the playoffs. Bringing in a steady defenseman like Pettersson would provide them with just that.
We will now need to wait and see if the Jets end up making a big push for Pettersson this campaign. He would be quite an addition for an already dangerous Jets club.
