Predators Rumors: Nashville Looking For Top-Six Forward

The Nashville Predators, off to a disappointing 4-9-1 start, are seeking a top-six forward to address their five-on-five scoring struggles, especially at the second-line center position.

General Manager Barry Trotz has made his expectations clear, emphasizing the need for immediate improvement. “If we don’t get it going, then I’m going to start our rebuild plan,” Trotz warned, signaling his willingness to shake up the roster if results don’t improve soon.

This comes after a significant offseason in which Nashville acquired experienced players like Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei, but inconsistent even-strength play continues to hamper the team’s effectiveness.

The search for a dependable second-line center has been especially challenging, as the Predators have rotated several players in the role, including Stamkos, Tommy Novak, and Colton Sissons.

However, injuries and a lack of chemistry have limited their effectiveness, leaving a glaring gap in Nashville’s offensive structure.

As Elliotte Friedman pointed out, “top-six centers are really hard to find,” but Trotz remains determined to address this pressing need.

Without solidifying this position, the team’s roster remains unbalanced, impacting their ability to generate consistent offensive pressure.

In a recent 4-0 victory over Utah, the Predators demonstrated the urgency Trotz expects, led by standout performances from Filip Forsberg and goaltender Juuse Saros.

Trotz has also hinted at turning to younger talent from Milwaukee, their AHL team, if the current roster continues to fall short, as evidenced by his recent decision to place defenseman Dante Fabbro on waivers.

The Predators’ pursuit of a top-six forward remains a priority as they work to stabilize their lineup and salvage their season, with Trotz ready to embrace a rebuild if they can’t find the needed spark.
