Report: NY Rangers Ready For Roster Shakeup, 2 Big Names Available

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the New York Rangers are ready to shake up their roster through the trade market. Friedman also noted that forward Chris Kreider and defenseman Jacob Trouba are among the players the Rangers are willing to hear offers for.

Kreider, 33, has appeared in 19 games this season with the Rangers, where he has nine goals and a minus-1 rating. The 2009 first-round pick has cooled off as of late, as he has just one goal in his last six games.

Kreider currently carries a $6.5 million cap hit until the completion of the 2026-27 season. He has some trade protection, as he has a 15-team no-trade list.

As for Trouba, this is not the first time where the Rangers captain has been in the rumor mill. The Rangers looked to move him this offseason, but a deal did not come to fruition. Now, he is available, and he should generate some interest from teams looking for help on their right side.

Trouba has appeared in 19 games this season with the Rangers, where he has six assists and a plus-3 rating. Trouba is under contract until the 2025-26 season and has a 15-team no-trade list.
