St. Louis Blues Place Kapanen On Waivers
Kapanen (STL) on waivers

The Blues' forward signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Blues on July 1 to stay with the team, but has began the season with just one goal in 10 games and is a -6.
The Blues have a number of forwards that can fit in the lineup and have as Kapanen has sat for a number of games this season already. Star forward Robert Thomas is returning to the lineup from injury shortly, so this most likely has something to do with the demotion for Kapanen.
The Blues likely don't mind if Kapanen is picked up either as he won't impact the cap if he's sent to the AHL and there are plenty of forwards in the lineup that can produce at a higher rate than he has this season.
This appears to be a re-tooling year of sorts for the Blues who are out of a playoff spot and Kapanen doesn't look to be in the future plans for this team. They have a good amount of talent coming up shortly or looking for more playing time.
This is Kapanen's eighth season in the NHL and he is a former 20-goal scorer, but that was in his first full season back in 2018-19. He also put up six goals and 22 points last season, but he has steadily declined over his career. Kapanen will be looking to get himself back in the NHL, not only for this season, but for the future, if he isn't claimed.
