Top Canadiens Goalie Prospect Jacob Fowler Suspended For Ugly Incident

This is not the way to ingratiate yourself as an up-and-coming prospect. Jacob Fowler, a top goalie prospect for the Montreal Canadiens, pulled a shocking move in an NCAA game this weekend that has left him suspended.

The Boston College netminder stunned the arena when he slugged a UConn player who had just scored a goal against him.

UConn's Tristan Fraser slid into Fowler, upending him, as he scored the goal, somehow earning himself that blocker to the head.

Fowler was slapped with a one-game ban for the violent punch.

BC coach Greg Brown called Fowler normally "even-keeled" and presumed his goalie's actions came due to "the combination of how the game was going and the fact that the guy made contact as he went through."

The goal gave UConn a 3-1 lead in a game they would win in surprising fashion, 5-4.

The soon-to-be 20-year-old Fowler was a third-round pick of the Habs in the 2023 NHL Draft, but has the Canadiens drooling over the potential he's shown, this year with a 7-1-0 record and an insane .943 save percentage and a 1.55 goals-against average. It was much the same last year at Boston College, when Fowler went 32-6-1 with a .926 Sv% and a 2.14 GAA, while leading the school to the Frozen Four Championship Game.

He also led the Youngstown Phantoms to the USHL championship as an 18-year-old in 2022-23.

Now let's see if he can keep that temper under control.
