Wedgewood, 32, signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Nashville Predators this past off-season. However, his time with the Predators is over after a very brief tenure.
Wedgewood appeared in five games this season with the Predators, where he had a 1-2-1 record, a .878 save percentage (SV%), and a 3.69 goals-against average (GAA).
With the Avalanche having clear problems between the pipes, they will now hope that Wedgewood can help change things on that front. While he had a tough start to the season with the Predators, he has shown in his career that he can be a very solid backup. Just back in 2022-23 with the Dallas Stars, he had a .915 save percentage.
The Predators have now landed an interesting young goalie in Annunen. The 24-year-old has had a rough start to the season, as he has a .872 SV% and a 3.23 GAA in 11 appearances thus far. However, he also had an 8-4-1 record, a 2.25 GAA, and a .928 SV% in 14 games last season.
It will be fascinating to see how this trade impacts both Central Division clubs from here.
