Trevor Zegras Still A Top 10 Trade Target: Ducks "Not A Believer in This Player"
As the newest Trade Board list has been revealed by Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, one of the splashiest names remains Trevor Zegras, who slips into the Top 10, at the #10 spot.
Per Seravalli on Daily Faceoff Live, Zegras has clearly fallen out of favor in Anaheim, and his days truly appear numbered:
We are approaching 'square peg in a round hole' territory here. It's abundantly obvious to me and everyone else watching that (GM) Pat Verbeek doesn't seem to be a believer in this player. (Zegras) seemingly hasn't found common ground with the coaching staff and (head coach) Greg Cronin.
And while Zegras is off to a brutal start to the new season on the scoresheet, with just two goals and six points in 18 games, Seravalli feels it goes much deeper than that.
It looks like his passion has waned. This is a guy who oozes with creativity and flair on the ice. And it's almost like they've sucked the life out of Zegras, unfortunately... He looks like a shell of himself.
Seravalli calls it a matter of "when, not if" the Ducks move on from Zegras.
He's still just 23, and was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. He recorded a pair of 23-goal, 60+ point seasons to begin his career, but now it appears like he's certainly in need of a fresh start elsewhere.
Hopefully he can get back to being "one of the brightest young stars in the game," as the insider notes, and maybe we can see some more of this kind of excitement at some point in the future:
