Wild Interested In Acquiring 2 Flyers Forwards

The Minnesota Wild are a solid team this season led by Kirill Kaprizov, but for the most part, the forward group is not very strong. There are some good pieces to build around and a ton of cap space opens up for the Wild after this season, but they are looking to add this year in order to get closer to their goal.

Minnesota has their eye on the Flyers, who are outside of the playoffs and will likely fall down the standings. This team may start looking to make some deals for certain players again. While Scott Laughton is a name that continues to come up for the Flyers in trade talks, Joel Farabee and Bobby Brink are actually the two forwards that the Wild are reportedly interested in acquiring according to Anthony Di Marco.

The Wild don't have a ton of cap space this season, but have the ability to move some money around and get a head start on building towards what their team will look like for the future.

Brink is the cheap contract that the Wild would have no problem acquiring, while Farabee is the larger play to bring in a young forward with potential and signed for three more years after this one.

Farabee is just 24 years old and has two 20-goal seasons to go along with a 50-point season. He is coming off a career high 22 goals and 50 points in 82 games last season, but with so much talent and competition in the lineup, this capable top-6 forward plays lower in the lineup at times and logs less minutes than he probably should. On the Wild, this wouldn't be a problem. The team has some older forwards and are looking for some young blood.

Brink is 23 years old, but has a lot less experience in the NHL than Farabee, but the potential is there as well. He took the NCAA route, and in his rookie season in the NHL last year, scored 11 goals and 23 points in 57 games. He is currently in the Flyers' top-6 and has a very affordable cap hit of $1.5 million AAV through next season.

These are both interesting forward options for the Wild that I can see working out. Both teams would benefit from a trade between the two as there is much more talent coming in Philadelphia and the Wild need external additions to push them forward this season.
