Wildly Conflicting Reports on Trevor Zegras' Future With Ducks

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras was on the rumor mill last year at the trade deadline and again this past summer. But is there anything really brewing? We get two wildly conflicting reports this week.

From insider Chris Johnson of The Athletic, he mentioned on his podcast on Monday that Zegras is pretty much "off the market" for now. He's had a slow start to the season with just three points through 14 games, with a plus/minus rating of -6. But Johnson reports thta the Ducks like what they've seen.

It does sound like the Ducks are pretty happy with them. Maybe some of the things they've questioned of him in the past, whether it's just habits, defensive attention to detail, have been there... The atmosphere has shifted a little bit around him... In the early portion of the season, the results have been pretty good... He's not front and center on (the Ducks') trade block.

At the other end of the spectrum, however, Jimmy Murphy of rg.com reports that Zegras "is once again looking like he may be on the way out in Anaheim," due in part to his "putrid start" as Murphy put it. "(He) just can’t seem to buy into the aggressive forecheck and two-way system that Ducks head coach Greg Cronin wants him to play in."

He even suggests that scouts around the league have lost interest in him:

"Does Trevor Zegras still play in the NHL?" one scout asked Murphy on the weekend.

The Zegras story just gets more and more confusing by the day. We'll keep an eye on it.
