Jets Reclaim Kaapo Kahkonen From Avalanche
The Winnipeg Jets have reclaimed goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen from the Colorado Avalanche.
Kahkonen, 28, signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Jets during this past offseason. However, the Avalanche claimed him after the Jets placed him on waivers. Yet, after hitting the waiver wire against, the Jets have brought him back, and he will once again be a part of their goaltending depth from here.
No other team submitted a claim for Kahkonen, so the Jets now have the freedom to assign him to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, without needing to place him on waivers again.
Kahkonen appeared in one game for the Avalanche, where he allowed four goals on 20 shots in a loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 30.
In 37 games this past season split between the New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks, Kahkonen had a 7-24-3 record, a .898 save percentage, and a 3.64 goals-against average.
