3 Trade Targets Named for Vegas Golden Knights To Pursue
Yes, the Vegas Golden Knights are red-hot, on a six-game winning streak, winners of 10 of their last 11, and with the best record in the National Hockey League. But one thing you can usually bank on at the trade deadline, regardless of the standings, is that the Golden Knights will make some kind of bold move to boost the team even further heading to the playoffs.
With that in mind, Adam Proteau of The Hockey News has contemplated three potential trade targets for Vegas to pursue, as we're now just over two months from the March 7th deadline.
Ivan Provorov
The Blue Jackets' top-four defenseman is one of the top targets for any contending team—unless Columbus somehow comes to an agreement on an extension. But as noted by insider Pierre LeBrun, the two sides very likely "won’t be in the same ballpark numbers-wise" and a trade is inevitable.
The Golden Knights already went out and added Noah Hanifin last season, so their blueline, with the further addition of Provorov, "would arguably be the best in the NHL" as Proteau claimed.
Michael Carcone
This would be more of an under-the-radar target, a 'buy-low' type of deal, as the Utah fourth-liner has suffered a huge drop-off this season following his stunning 21-goal campaign last year. He has just three goals in 25 games. He'll be a UFA after the season, and won't cost much in a deal (or on the salary cap, with his minimum salary).
