Analyst Links Dallas Stars to 2 Big Trade Targets

So the Dallas Stars are going "big-game hunting." That's the word from Daily Faceoff insider Jeff Marek, as we shared on Monday

With Tyler Seguin's $9.85 million in cap space likely to be placed on LTIR, the Stars will have plenty of room to make a big-time addition or two.

But who would be ideal fits for the Stars and their impending cap space? According to Marek's colleague Colby Cohen, speaking on Daily Faceoff Live, he can see a pair of notable Calgary Flames going to Dallas.

Cohen suggested that the Stars should be targeting both Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson.

"I think they'd be two massive upgrades for the Dallas Stars," offered Cohen. "Are they big splashy names? No. But These types of guys are guys that help you win when the game gets ugly, and the game gets dirty in the playoffs. We've seen Kadri be a winner before (2022 Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche).

"So I think those are the two guys to keep your eye on if you're looking to see who the Dallas Stars are going to go big game hunting for."

Cohen also noted that these two teams got together for a big deal at last year's trade deadline, with the Flames sending D-man Chris Tanev to Dallas.

Kadri has four years remaining on a $7 million cap hit, and does have no-move protection this season, but it's likely he would have no problem waiving that to go to a Stanley Cup contender like the Stars.

Andersson, a top-pairing defenseman, is having another strong offensive season is blocking a lot of shots and logging a ton of ice time, a career-high 24:45 per night. He has another remaining after this one at his $4.55 million cap hit.
