Avalanche Get Terrible News on Re-Injured Miles Wood

Colorado continues to get buried under an.. Avalanche of injury troubles up front. For the second time in the past month, Miles Wood has gone down to injury, and this time, it's a serious one.

Head coach Jared Bednar told the media that Wood will be out "month to month" with an upper-body issue. The bottom-six forward already missed seven games at the beginning of November with an upper-body injury, though there's no word if it's the same problem this time around.

The Avalanche had finally had most of their slew of injured forwards back for a few games, but now Wood heads back to the IR, after teammate Jonathan Drouin also went down again after a few games back with another upper-body injury.

Ross Colton and Gabriel Landeskog also remain out with no return timeline, but Artturi Lehknonen and Valeri Nichushkin, who also began the season out, have been back for a while now.

Wood has three points on two goals and one assist in 16 games this season. His production slipped to just nine goals last season, though he handed out over 100 hits in his defensive duties for the second consecutive year.

He is in the second year of a six-year contract with a $2.5 million cap hit.
