Insider: Hurricanes "Still" Looking For Goaltender
According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Hurricanes remain "kicking tires on the goalie market" as they work through an uncertain situation in net.

While Tokarski provides immediate support, his addition doesn’t address the team’s need for a more reliable long-term solution.
LeBrun outlined two potential approaches the Hurricanes might take. The team could move quickly if a proven goaltender becomes available who would provide an upgrade over Tokarski and Spencer Martin, currently their backup tandem.
Alternatively, Carolina may wait until closer to the March 7 trade deadline to reassess Andersen’s recovery and Kochetkov’s development before deciding on a move.
"If someone becomes available that is an upgrade over everyone they have in their system, it sounds like the organization will push hard to make a pitch for that goaltender," LeBrun noted.
Sitting firmly in a playoff spot, the Hurricanes are mindful of how crucial goaltending stability is for a deep postseason run.
Andersen’s history of injuries and Kochetkov’s growing pains have made finding additional help in net a priority.
Carolina’s front office is reportedly eyeing veterans on expiring contracts from struggling teams. As LeBrun puts it, the Hurricanes’ approach means they are ready to act if the right opportunity arises.
