Lightning Reveal Brutal News on JJ Moser

J.J. Moser hasn't played in a week for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but now the team has revealed the brutal news that the top-four defenseman won't be returning for eight-to-ten weeks.

The lower-body injury occurred on a bizarre non-contact play, when he seemed to trip and fall awkwardly chasing a puck back over his own blueline. His stumble led to a stunning spinerama goal by the Calgary Flames' Nazem Kadri.

It's a big loss for the Bolts, as Moser has been a great addition to the blueline since being acquired this past summer from Utah HC as a part of the Mikhail Sergachev trade.

He's largely been a top-pairing defender, logging just under 20 minutes a night, while recording two goals and eight assists in 27 games for Tampa this season. He also has a plus/minus rating of +13, and has blocked 39 shots.

The 24-year-old is in his fourth NHL season, after being a second-round pick of the former Arizona Coyotes franchise in the 2021 NHL Draft.
