Mackenzie Blackwood Has Revelation About Ex-Team The Sharks
Mackenzie Blackwood was "nearly in tears" when he found out that the San Jose Sharks had completed a trade sending him to the Colorado Avalanche.
In fact, in an interview with Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, Blackwood, an impending UFA after the season, said he was interested in signing an extension to stay with the Sharks for the long term.
For sure. I mean, if they wanted to do something like that at the time, I would have been open to it, but I don’t think they’re in the same place as me and my career. So just kind of the way things work out.
Blackwood returned to The Shark Tank with his new team Thursday night, and did his old mates dirty, stopping 32 of 34 shots in a 4-2 Avalanche win.

The conversation on the Sharks' radio network with Dan Rusanowsky and Drew Menanda outlined how much Blackwood would have loved to stay in San Jose.
Mackenzie Blackwood did not want to leave San Jose. Sharks General Manager Mike Grier made his toughest trade and did what was best for the team and best for business.

Blackwood only arrived in San Jose at the beginning of last season, but obviously quickly grew fond of the place. He "did not want to leave the team, he loved it here... It hit them hard when it all came down. Mackenzie was nearly in tears."
Blackwood has a stunning .938 save percentage in three games with his new team in Colorado, with a 2.04 goals against average.
