NHL Rumors: Several More Rangers Trade Candidates

The New York Rangers' recent trades of Kaapo Kakko and Jacob Trouba, and potentially Chris Kreider soon, have showed a willingness by GM Chris Drury to make big roster adjustments as the team tries to reverse its fortunes.

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, several other players are emerging as potential trade candidates, with defensemen Ryan Lindgren and Will Borgen among the most notable.

Both are pending unrestricted free agents next summer and could draw interest from contending teams seeking defensive depth.

Lindgren, a key figure in the Rangers' defensive corps, has faced injury-related challenges this season, while Borgen, acquired recently, might be flipped for future assets.

Younger defensemen like K’Andre Miller and Zac Jones could also find themselves in trade discussions if Drury decides on a broader defensive overhaul.

Miller, whose restricted free agency looms, has struggled with inconsistency this season, making him a possible trade chip despite his potential upside. Meanwhile, Jones, who has yet to solidify his role despite increased playing time, could appeal to teams looking for an affordable player with untapped potential.

"They have pieces that other teams will want," a Western Conference executive noted, "but the question is whether they’re willing to move on."

Veteran forward Jimmy Vesey is another candidate likely to be dealt, with his expiring contract and limited production this season making him a logical choice for a move after the holiday roster freeze.

Trading Vesey could open up opportunities for younger players in the bottom six while freeing cap space.

As trade talks heat up, more moves appear inevitable.
