NHL Trade Rumors: Sabres & Red Wings exchanging trade offers?
The Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres are two teams to watch on the trade market leading up to the March 7 trade deadline.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Red Wings and Sabres have been scouting each other, with the potential of a deal coming in the near future. The Red Wings have a new coach in Todd McLellan behind the bench, and while their offense has sparked, GM Steve Yzerman is likely open to landing a top-six forward with term on his contract.

Meanwhile, the Sabres are open for business and have not met expectations this season. Entering Monday's action, Buffalo and Detroit share the basement of the Eastern Conference with 32 points.
Some other trade candidates on either team include Sabres d-man Bowen Byram, Red Wings' blueliner Justin Holl and several prospects and draft picks. Ideally, both teams are 'adding' so it will be curious to see how exactly they pull off a trade together, when both teams are trying to turns things around in short order.
