NY Rangers Rumors: K'Andre Miller Garnering Trade Interest

K'Andre Miller has logged well over 20 minutes of ice time per night in all five of his NHL seasons for the New York Rangers, and he's been a big part of their defense corps. He had a career plus/minus of +49 coming into the current campaign, laying out an average of 150 hits with 100+ blocked shots in each of the last three seasons.

But things haven't gone according to plan this year—for Miller or the Rangers—and the 24-year-old has been taking a lot of the heat.

He's currently out with an upper-body injury, but according to insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, now that Kakko has been moved, Miller has become the Rangers' next trade target for rival teams.

Another player teams have been asking the New York Rangers about is defenceman K’Andre Miller, who is currently on the IR with an upper-body injury. He’s set to become an RFA, with arbitration rights, in the summer.

One would have to think it would take quite an offer to pry the 6'5" D-man loose, but as fellow insider Elliotte Friedman said on a recent episode of The Fan Hockey Show, Miller just hasn't lived up to expectations for the Rangers this year. In fact, the Friedge says a lot of the team's problems can be traced back to him:

There's no question that Miller's season has had a very big role in what's gone wrong with the Rangers. They really count on him, they have high hopes for him, they thought he was going to be a franchise cornerstone for a long time, and he hasn't been very good this year. And that throws your backline into chaos.

Unfortunately, Miller actually had one of his best games in a while last Wednesday before he went down to this minor injury. Hopefully, he'll be able to build on that when he returns. He has resumed skating on his own.
