Predators Rumors: 3 trade candidates as struggles continue in Nashville

The Nashville Predators continue to struggle this season. The Preds sit 7-12-6 on the year, third last in the entire NHL, and appear bound for the NHL Draft Lottery.

GM Barry Trotz isn't going to be shy making more changes this season, as the team recently moved backup goaltender Scott Wedgewood to the Colorado Avalanche, and brought in 24-year-old netminder Justus Annunen. These types of trades, with the future in mind, could be continuing in Nashville as Trotz looks to re-tool on the fly.

Here's three Predators' trade candidates as more changes loom:

Gustav Nyquist

The 35-year-old veteran forward is a prime candidate to be dealt as he's a pending unrestricted free-agent. He's on the books for $3.1 million this season and does not hold any trade protection. Nyquist has scored six goals and 10 points in 25 games and is averaging over 17 minutes per game, including playing on both sides of special teams. With 77 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience under his belt, look for a contending team to bring him in as a rental.

Alexandre Carrier

Despite Dante Fabbro being waived earlier this season, there's lots of speculation regarding Carrier's future in Nashville. The right-handed blueliner just recently signed a three-year extension for $3.75 million, however with the team in desperate need to add up front, Carrier could be leveraged to bring in some forward help.

Colton Sissons

The Predators may consider moving Sissons this season. The depth forward is signed through the 2025-26 season at $2.85 million AAV and with his playing style, could be an attractive bottom-six piece for contending teams. If the Predators are serious about re-tooling, moving Sissons for a younger version of himself and cheaper version, will very likely be considered.
