Report: Move Coming Soon For The Kings

The Los Angeles Kings could be active in the trade market ahead of the NHL's holiday roster freeze, which begins at 11:59 p.m. ET on December 20.

According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, general manager Rob Blake is exploring opportunities to bolster the roster as the Kings look to take the next step toward becoming a true contender.

With a strong 18-9-3 record and sitting second in the Pacific Division, just four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights, the Kings see the need to address key areas to elevate their game.

Seravalli noted the Kings have been in discussions with several teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, about the possibility of acquiring a good young player to fill some of the holes in their lineup.

While Los Angeles remains one of the league's best defensive teams, tied for the third-fewest goals allowed, there’s still room for improvement.

Quinton Byfield’s struggles following his offseason extension have added to the urgency. “This is a good team that wants to break through to that next threshold,” Seravalli said on Daily Faceoff LIVE, suggesting a move could come quickly to solidify their status as a top team in the West.

With limited time before the roster freeze, Blake appears intent on making the right addition, whether it’s scoring depth, a blue-line upgrade, or a young impact player from a struggling club.
