Reports: Jacob Trouba Move Is Imminent for NY Rangers

Jacob Trouba will be noticeably absent from the ice on Friday for the New York Rangers. The longtime veteran has been one of the prime names circulating regarding a Rangers shake-up, and per a report from insider Larry Brooks, it appears that his absence today is no coincidence.

Brooks was first to report that Trouba would not play Friday night for purposes of "roster management."

Now it's emerged that the Rangers have multiple trades on the table, and if Trouba doesn't accept one (waiving his partial no-trade clause), they will place him on waivers.

Insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets are one of the teams involved, while ESPN's Emily Kaplan adds the Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres to that list.

Trouba has been well aware that this would be his last season in New York, as trade rumors began late last season. But he has insisted that he wanted to stay in Manhattan for the 2024-25 season due to personal reasons. It now appears, however, that won't be the case.

The Rangers captain, who's been with the team for six years, has one more season left after this one on his seven-year deal with an $8 million cap hit.

It appears, however, that his time with the Blueshirts is over.
