Senators Rumors: Ottawa continues to discuss Josh Norris in trade talks
The Ottawa Senators may want to hold onto captain Brady Tkachuk, but that doesn't mean a deal isn't on the way in the coming weeks. According to several reports, including from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Sens have listed on Norris throughout this season.
Norris, 25, has recorded 18 points in 27 games this season. The former 2017 first-round pick's best season came back in 2021-22 when he posted 55 points in 66 games. Norris is averaging just under 19 minutes per game and plays both sides of special teams for the Senators.
Pagnotta mentions there's some talks about Thomas Chabot also being 'out there', as well as Drake Batherson, but points out that Norris appears to be the prime trade candidate from the Senators.
Norris has five years left on his current contract, carrying a $7.95 million cap hit. He does not have any trade protection until the 2026-27 season. Ottawa has started the year 12-13-2 and are currently four points back of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
After bringing in Linus Ullmark to shore up their goaltending woes, the Senators are turning to the trade market to try and upgrade up front. Look for Norris to be involved in a deal at some point before the March 7 trade deadline.
