Wild Rumors: Is Minnesota Shopping Marco Rossi?

Speculation about the Minnesota Wild potentially shopping center Marco Rossi has persisted for multiple seasons, but Michael Russo of The Athletic reports that GM Bill Guerin remains committed to keeping the 23-year-old as a cornerstone of the team.

Guerin dismissed trade rumors, saying, “I’m not looking to trade him,” and praised Rossi as one of the Wild’s best players this season.

With 12 goals and 29 points in 37 games, Rossi has thrived on the top line alongside Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello, using his consistency and net-front presence to solidify his role.

Rossi’s development has been closely watched, particularly given his size at 5’9” and his recovery from a heart ailment that derailed his early career.

After a solid rookie campaign, he has stepped into a larger role this season, adapting to the demands of elite linemates and proving his ability to produce in high-danger areas.

“All his goals are from 10 feet or less,” Guerin noted, emphasizing Rossi’s work ethic and ability to elevate his game. Though trade rumors often resurface, Guerin insists the focus is on Rossi continuing to grow and help the team contend, especially in the playoffs.

As a pending restricted free agent, Rossi’s contract status has added to the speculation, but Guerin has made it clear that the team plans to re-sign him rather than move him.

Whether through a bridge deal or a long-term contract, Guerin sees Rossi as an integral part of the Wild’s future. “He never complains. He just keeps proving himself to us,” Guerin said.

“I’m very happy with Marco. I’m proud of him.”
